Some weddings are beautiful. Others have a feeling about them that stays with you long after the day has ended. Patience and Jono's wedding at Al Ru Farm was one of those weddings.
Set amongst the trees and gardens of Al Ru Farm in the Adelaide Hills, their celebration brought together everything they love: good food, great music, their favourite people, and a design concept that felt equal parts romantic, moody, and enchanting.
Inspired by what we called Forest Noir, the vision embraced rich textures, dramatic florals, candlelight, and the kind of atmosphere that feels as though you've stepped into a secret woodland gathering after dark.
For us, it was a dream project in wedding planning Adelaide couples often tell us they're searching for: a wedding that felt elevated and intentional without ever losing sight of what mattered most.
A Forest-Inspired Vision
From the beginning, Patience and Jono wanted their wedding to feel immersive.
Rather than following trends, they were drawn to a moodier aesthetic featuring deep tones, natural textures, layered candlelight, and abundant greenery. The Forest Noir concept took shape around those ideas, creating a celebration that felt romantic, dramatic, and incredibly welcoming all at once.
The beautiful grounds of Al Ru Farm provided the perfect backdrop. Surrounded by nature, guests were invited into a space that felt intimate despite hosting ninety of their favourite people.
A Ceremony Filled With Heart
As beautiful as the styling was, the moments that mattered most had nothing to do with flowers or candles.
One of our favourite memories from the ceremony was watching Patience's young niece proudly deliver the rings. There was something so sweet and genuine about the moment that had guests smiling from ear to ear.
These are often the memories couples cherish most - the laughter, the happy tears, the tiny family moments that become part of the story forever.
The Reception Reveal
Before guests were invited into the reception space, Patience and Jono shared one of the most special moments of the entire day. Together, they stepped into the reception for a private reveal.
After months of planning, mood boards, decisions, and anticipation, they finally got to see the vision brought to life. Everything they had imagined was suddenly real.
They spent a few quiet moments taking it all in before sharing a private practice of their first dance, just the two of them. It was calm. It was emotional. And it became one of those rare moments where time seemed to slow down.
Later, Patience shared that they received "so many compliments on the whole aesthetic" and couldn't believe how incredible the reception space looked in person.
When The Bride Joins The Band
If there was one moment that perfectly captured Patience's personality, it happened during pre-dinner drinks. While guests mingled and enjoyed the celebrations, Patience stepped up and joined the band for a couple of songs.
The result was one of those wonderfully unexpected wedding moments that guests will still be talking about years from now. Personal moments like these are what transform a wedding from beautiful to unforgettable.
The Best Decision They Made
After the wedding, we asked Patience and Jono what the best decision they made during planning was - "Hiring a wedding planner - by far."
But what stood out most wasn't the compliment itself; it was the reason behind it. They told us that having support throughout the planning process made them feel less stressed, kept them on track, and allowed them to genuinely enjoy the day when it arrived.
As Adelaide wedding planners, that's ultimately what we're aiming for. Not simply beautiful weddings. But weddings where our couples get to be fully present.
When they're not worrying about timelines, vendors, deliveries, or logistics, our couples can focus on each other. And Patience and Jono absolutely did that.
A Wedding to Remember
When we asked Patience and Jono about their favourite memory from the day, their answer was immediate.
Their first look.
Having that moment to themselves before the celebrations began became one of the highlights of the entire experience. It's easy to see why.
Their wedding wasn't defined by a single styling element or one standout moment. It was the combination of all the little things: the anticipation before the ceremony, their niece carrying the rings, Pati singing with the band, a private first dance rehearsal, ninety loved ones gathered together. And a celebration that felt unmistakably, authentically theirs.
